A bocce ball game in session.

Bocce ball is a sport that is more popular in states down south, but now it’s coming to Indiana. It’s a unified sport meaning anyone can play, whether they are in a special program or gen. ed. class. There are 3 teams: 1 all girls, 1 all boys, and 1 that is co-ed. Each team has four players on it and each team member gets to roll a bocce ball. The game starts off with a coin toss to see who goes first. The team to win get to roll the little white ball called a plena that is essentially the target for the game. The person who rolls the plena gets to roll their bocce ball first. The person closest to the plena in considered “in.” The so the first person to roll the bocce ball will always be in. The other team’s first player then goes up and rolls their bocce ball. If they’re closer then they are in and the first team’s second player is up. After all 8 players have went then the score is determined but how many balls are closest to the plena for the in team before the outer team’s closest ball. The first team to 12 points over whoever has the most points after a half hour wins. That’s the wonderful game of bocce ball! Come be a part of a team!
