6 seniors lead the varsity Knights softball team into another season. Although the first week of games was skewed by the rain and cold, the Knights have been able to get in three games against Garrett, Warsaw, and Prairie Heights, all of which were wins. It may only be a 3-0 streak, but expectations are high for the remainder of the season.

The 2016 team is a lineup of skilled hitters and base runners who excel at bunting and base hits in order to put runs across the plate. That is not to say their are no “power” hitters on the team, as senior Taylor Koegler and sophomore Carissa Gruszczyk have already put home runs over the fence.

Pitching for the Knights is sophomore Taylor Peters who is making her varsity debut on the mound, and senior Kirsten Wolf who brings speed and movement to the pitching. Both pitchers have proven to be a vital part of the defense in the first three games.

Other seniors on the team include Madi Franks, the second basemen, Kelli Brennan, the catcher, Brianna Glass, the shortstop, and Jami Jaquay, the first basemen.

The Knights play Central Noble, Fairfield, and Goshen in the upcoming 3 games, and are hosting a youth softball camp on Saturday, April 16.
