Wrestling Takes 3rd at NE8 Championship

East Noble’s conference has changed this year, but rest assured, nothing about the wrestling team is different. Similar to last season, East Noble is home to some of the toughest wrestlers in the area, a fact proven by their ability to achieve 3rd place at last weekend’s NE8 Conference Championship.

As eight schools gathered into the Big Blue Pit on Saturday, expectations were high for East Noble. After winning a State championship last season, all eyes were on the Knights to witness how they would follow-up. Parents and fans shouted from the bleachers, teammates cheered on the wrestlers, and coaches calmly gave words of advice from the sidelines. Finals took place at 1:30 in the afternoon after more than 4 hours of wrestling, and after the final matches, results were announced.

Adam Ledesma finished in 3rd place at 113 pounds.

Seth Ferrier placed 4th at 120 pounds.

Grant Gregory took 5th at 126 pounds.

Nate Weimer finished 2nd at 145 pounds.

Lucas Hand placed 4th at 152 pounds.

Jordan Van Wagner finished 5th at 160 pounds.

Marcus Shirk finished 5th at 182 pounds.

Tony Smith took 5th at 285 pounds.

Nate Householder took the NE8 138 pound championship and Nick Babyak did the same at 195 pounds.

Walking away with two championships and several other high placings that earned them 3rd place as a team, East Noble’s wrestling team has much to be proud of. The NE8 Conference Championship turned out to be, put simply by Athletic Director Nick David, a “great day of competition!”
