EN Cross Country Places 2nd in Conference
The East Noble Knights Cross Country team traveled to Northrop for the 2014 NHC Conference Meet. It was a very cold and windy day, but that didn’t stop the Knights from having a great day of racing. In the girl’s race the Knights didn’t have enough runners to score as a team, but the Lady Knights ran very well individually. Leading the Knights for the girls was sophomore Jessica Vandiver who placed 38th place with a time of 22:34.2. Finishing right behind Jessica was freshman Kyra Warren who placed 39th with a time of 22:38.5. Other runners for the knights were Alyssa Claymiller finishing in 42nd (23:06.6) and Tori Foster 51st (25:24.5).
For the boys race the Knights were predicted to place very high in the conference meet, and that’s what they did. The boys finished 2nd in the NHC meet with a score of 73 falling only behind Carroll with a score of 30. The Knights were led by junior Joe Vandiver who finished 5th with a time of 16:38.5 which was good enough to receive All NHC- 1st Team Honors. The Knights had two runners receive All-NHC 2nd Team, Tyler Klinger who finished 11th (17:18.6) and Noah Acker who finished 14th (17:23.4). Matt Kline received Honorable Mention by placing 21st (17:48.8). Seth Gorski just missed out on being recognized by the NHC finishing 22nd (17:52.3). The Knights have had a great season and there should be more great things to come for the Boys Varsity team.
