On Tuesday, December 15, the Jazz band did something they had never done before and held their first solo Christmas concert. At the start of the night, Band Director Mr. Munoz told the story of how they had put together 11 pieces over the course of just a few weeks, a feat that was difficult but one he had faith that they could accomplish. Proving that such a task was no problem for the very talented musicians, they wowed the crowd that gathered in the Cole Auditorium with their first piece “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” which put a jazz spin on a Christmas classic.

Other songs included “Let It Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!” featuring vocalist Lydia Tremaine whose sang the lyrics while complimented by the Jazz band’s melody. There were several solo musicians that performed during the compositions including seniors Noah Shepherd and Abby Patrick on saxophone. While this type of concert had never been done before and in previous years the band had combined with the show choirs for a Christmas show, the night went off without a hitch. After all there are few better ways to spread Christmas cheer than listening to some holiday tunes.
