As we roll onto our second week of our EN Staff Stars, we would now like to honor one of our favorite English teachers, Mrs. Asher!

How many years have you been teaching at East Noble?

• This is my 18th year as an English teacher and my second year at EN.

What subjects do you teach?

• English 9, 10, 11, and Creative Writing

What is your favorite class to teach?

• I like all of them for different reasons. I enjoy reading my Creative Writing students’ narratives and seeing their growth from the beginning of the trimester to the end. I also like reading plays with my students. They get into their characters and make learning fun.

What’s your favorite part of teaching?

• My favorite part is discovering the different “identities” of my classes. Even when I teach the same thing multiple times a day, the lesson feels different due to the personalities in the room at any given time.

Do you have any interests/hobbies outside of school?

• My favorite interests/hobbies are reading, playing Candy Crush (level 4088), watching my kids’ activities, and traveling with my family to Florida.

Do you have a fun fact about yourself?

• I don’t know how fun it is, but I won my school’s spelling bee in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades.
