EN+Staff+Stars%3A+Mrs.+Carissa+Prater

With the start of the Knightly Scroll’s weekly EN Staff Stars, Mrs. Prater was chosen to inaugurate this new series. Here is some information on one of East Noble’s favorite science teachers:

How many years have you been teaching at East Noble?

  • I am in my 18th year of teaching. This is my 17th year at East Noble.

What subjects do you teach?

  • I have taught Biology (not currently though). I currently teach Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and Principles of BioMedical Science.

What is your favorite class to teach?

  • There are parts of every class that I love. I can’t pick an absolute favorite.

What’s your favorite part of teaching?

  • I love interacting with students. Teenagers are the best and they have such fun personalities.  I enjoy getting to know my students and helping them navigate science.  I love science!!

Do you have a favorite EN Memory? If so, what is it?

  • My favorite teacher memories deal with the fun of being at East Noble. I love dress-up days and to see the creativity that students and staff come up with in dressing up.
  • On a personal note, I love it when I have made a difference in helping someone learn science!!

Do you have any interests/hobbies outside of school?

  • Outside of school – I love to read, I like to bake at Christmas time, I enjoy gardening and being at the lake in the summer time.

Do you have a fun fact about yourself?

  • I took a 2-week trip to Alaska for my 10-year wedding anniversary. In Denali Park I was able to see a bear and a wolf fight over a caribou kill.  Alaska and that whole trip was amazing!!

As a representative of EN and the Knightly Scroll, I would like to thank Mrs. Prater for all her effort and support! We love you Mrs. Prater!!!
