A Review of “Cinderella”

There was magic and laughter in the air earlier this weekend when East Noble’s theater department had a production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

Ella was played by Sheridan Asher and Prince Topher was played by Austin Gulick. In the musical Ella was tormented by her stepmother and stepsisters and she ended up sneaking away to the ball and falling in love with the prince, all with the help of her fairy godmother. The whole cast helped to transform the stage into a magical world where anything is possible. They had six performances including children’s shows on Friday, there were a total of six elementary schools that attended. The children were encouraged to ‘boo’ the Stepmother and cheer for Ella and Topher whenever they came on stage.

Saturday at 2 pm the cast held a “Tea With Cinderella” event and invited kids and their families to come join them. The whole cast was involved and got to interact with the kids. After tea everyone headed into the auditorium where Ella and Topher sang for them. Following their song kids got a chance to come on stage and take pictures with the cast. Saturday night was senior night and following their performance Ms. Hines said goodbye to the seniors with the glow of an original stage light. Overall, everyone enjoyed being a part of the show and making magic come alive on stage.
