Extra Time? Join an Extracurricular

Not into sports? Join the club, or at least a club.

The new school year is on its fourth week and that means its clubs and extracurricular are starting up. Whether you want to get involved and meet new people or need something that’ll look good on a resume or application, there’s bound to be a club for you.

Archery Team

Our East Noble archers have a spectator record, often placing at state on all levels, having individual member placing, and doing well at nationals. If you’re already a archer and want to go competitive or a beginner and want to learn, this is for you. The team currently shots every Monday, five to six thirty at Northside Elementary on Riley Street. If you’re already preoccupied with sports, the coaches are willing to work with you so you can get the needed time in shooting to compete. The archers are a group dedicated to their sport and always friendly. They’re always happy to help another work on their shot and fix their stance. If you want to learn a new skill, bragging rights, and have a great time, check out a practice any week.

Key Club

Want to get involved at the school while looking good on your next resume? Check out Key Club. Key Club is an international club with ties to Kiwanis. This club does several projects throughout the year, from working with East Noble students to fundraising for causes. Participation is voluntary in any project, you pick what you want to do. The club does require a member’s fee, but you can sell treats to other students to help cover the costs of join. This is a group who wants to make a positive impact of their close community while preparing for their future. For more information, meet with Mrs. Swonger in Room 316.

Knightly Scroll

Want to have your writing seen by the whole school? Join us. The newspaper covers any and all events relating to the high school, from class projects to sports to teachers. Our editors and reporters are constantly on the lookout for a good story that others need to know about. With the paper, one will write several different kinds of articles over the year to meet their quota (don’t worry, it’s nothing scary, just two stories a month.) This is a group of friendly students who want to share their experiences with their peers. For more info on join, meet up with Ms. Schlotfeldt in Room 101.

Interact Club

Want to have fun while learning leadership skills and contributing to your community? Check out the Interact Club. Interact is an international club with ties to Rotary. This kind club preforms two main projects a year, one with an impact on the community and the other international. This is a group of students who want to have a positive impact outside of just their school. For more info on Interact, talk with Mr. Rickey in Room 204.

FCCLA

What to grow as a person while preparing for a career? Check out Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). This group focuses on family roles, community roles, and preparing for a career. These students are dedicated to preparing fully for the best future possible for them. Kendallville Citizen’s Academy

Looking for something outside the school? Want to learn more about your town and community? Look into the Kendallville Citizen’s Academy. The Academy’s purpose is to educate its citizens on their town and its multiple departments. It wants to encourage one to actively participate in one’s community and to work to better it. This class meets on Monday nights, six to eight thirty and will cover several departments and positions a night. One must attend seven out of the eight meetings to “graduate” at a town council meeting.
