What do Teens Face on a Day to Day Basis…?

The number one thing that teens face is getting judged by their peers. They can get judged for multiple things. Maybe they aren’t wearing clothes that are up to fashion or they don’t have money to go places like you. Maybe they study a lot so they can go to a good college or maybe they don’t act like the jocks. Here’s a list of what teens worry about and get judged by.

Appearance – Every day teens are surrounded by photo shopped pictures of celebrities and it gets in their head that they aren’t good enough and they worry that they won’t be skinny enough or pretty enough to fit in. They get into their heads that they have to wear all this makeup to look pretty because that’s what the celebrities are doing.

Dating – Guys and girls both worry about dating. They may like someone but are worried about what someone will think of them if they found out they liked them. They are surrounded by peer pressure daily and their body is still changing so adding this on top of everything else confuses them.

Friendships – Everybody is worried about at least one friend. It may be that they are going through something themselves or that they are in a fight with each other. They may be worried about how to help him or her or how to get back on good terms with each other.

Self-esteem – Everybody has that one person that makes them feel bad about themselves. It might be a friend, a bully, a boyfriend, a girlfriend, a parent, a sibling but everybody has that one person. When that person puts them down it makes them not think that they aren’t good enough and then they try to become perfection and it just doesn’t work. They are worried that everybody is judging them.

Drug and alcohol use – One point or another every teen is asked if they want to try this drug or pop this pull or try this drink. Some kids say yes and some kids say no. They figure that doing it just once won’t hurt them but it does. They go to drugs and drink alcohol for multiple reasons and sometimes it’s just because they want a way to feel better about themselves.

Sexuality – Some teens don’t know that they really want and they become lost and experiment with others. They may just try something with the same sex once or they will find out they’re gay because they are only attracted to the same sex as themselves.

Social media – 100 years ago we didn’t have to worry about a teen getting bullied online because there was no internet. Now there is and it’s one more thing for teens to worry about. They could get bullied on any social site and there are tons now. Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Google, Instagram, Snapchat, Skype and that’s just a few.
