The Maze Runner Book to Movie Review

Everyone hopefully has heard of the book The Maze Runner and have seen the movie. This is a review and/or my opinion of the book and the movie (CONTAINS SPOILERS).

The Maze Runner in my opinion is one of the greatest book series I have read. The Maze Runner starts with the character Thomas who randomly comes up in the maze from the lift in the ground. Everyone is curious about him because he didn’t come up at the normal time. There is a group called the runners and they run in the maze and try and map it. In my opinion the movie and the book are very different.

In the book it described the Grievers as a slug like mass with needles like a porcupine, and a fatty body that reeks of exhaust and oil. The movie depicts the Grievers as spider like creatures that are mainly robotic with needle like teeth and 8 legs. Another big difference that made me slightly angry was the map room in the movie it’s a big secret, but in the book it wasn’t a secret, it was a place for all of the Runners to go and map the maze. In the movie the map room in the movie they made a full on miniature scale of the maze, and in the book they knew nothing about the maze besides it changes at night.

Also in the movie they do not have the cliff scene which really disappointed me but what all people will realize is books are different from the movies. Another thing I should mention is in the movie when they activate the device they have the ground and land just starts coming up and changing that doesn’t happen in the book which really added suspense, but I would like it to stay true to the book.
