A Meal Fit for a King

On March 13 I had the privilege of partaking in a very deliciousness brunch during A lunch. I’ve visited the “Round Table Café” before, however I’ve never had their delectable breakfast meal. However, before I talk about food and make myself hungry again, I should talk about the service.

The “Round Table Café” is the café that runs at the high school most Fridays during all three lunch periods. Teachers and students are welcome to reserve a spot, and the option to carry out food is also available (teachers from others buildings are also offered delivery.) This café’s primary purpose is to help special needs students work on their speaking, people, and everyday skills. You are greeted and shown to your table, and soon a waiter will introduce themselves in the most professional manner. During the meal, they will bring your drinks, take straw wrappers, and take your plates and silverware once you are finished. The skills these students show continue to impress and amaze me.

If that by itself doesn’t make this a special treat to experience, you’ll be easily swayed by the food procured. In the four times I’ve been there I’ve indulged in foods from Italian to most recently breakfast. This past visit wafted the smells of biscuits and gravy, cinnamon rolls, peaches, hash brown casserole, and monkey bread. Each time the spread has had a very large, filling, and delicious variety of foods, and with the buffet-style eating it’s easy to get carried away. However, I know I’ll always leave full, content, and ready for a nap. Additionally, the trays are always kept filled so you don’t have to wait to get warm and fresh (and sometimes gooey) goodness.

Furthermore, the atmosphere is very friendly. All the workers serve with a smile, the colors of the paintings (created by students that are also up for sale to help the program) and walls are bright and uplifting. These things combined with an appropriate Pandora station to fit the theme of the food and the clever use of five round tables of varying sizes all epitomize the name. This might all sound a little too good to be true, but it’s true. Every Friday it is possible to partake in an all-you-can eat meal in school, in a friendly professional place, and all for only $6!

If you are yet to visit the café I strongly encourage it. They will not disappoint, and from what I’ve encountered every meal is delicious. So hurry and make your reservation today! They fill up quickly.
