Another Satisfied Customer at the Round Table Café

This past Friday, I had the privilege of dining at East Noble’s Round Table Café during my lunch period to enjoy yet another quality meal from East Noble’s very own special education students who run the restaurant with the help of the special education staff.

I was first served with a very refreshing glass of lemonade from Jacob Bartlett, one of the students that helps run the Café. On the menu was pasta fagioli, garlic breadsticks, salad bar, and tiramisu. The main dish, pasta fagioli, had carrots, beans, noodles, and meat all in a broth that was delicious. The garlic breadsticks were a nice complement to the soup. As always, the salad bar was delicious with a vast number of toppings to tailor to anyone’s preference with no less than 4 different dressings to choose from. To top the whole meal off, the tiramisu, a chocolate cake dessert, was excellent. I had never tried tiramisu before Friday and was beyond my expectations.

Not only is the food at the Café delicious, but the atmosphere is what helps make the experience so great, too. There’s music playing in the background at just the right volume and the tables are set up for a group setting which makes it easy to talk to the other guests. A unique element to the atmosphere is that the walls are lined with student-made artwork which are all for sale for anyone who wishes to buy them. This helps support other East Noble students and encourage them to keep making their art.

But with all of the great food and the restaurant-like atmosphere, what really makes the Round Table Café so special is seeing all of the kids enjoy themselves while they do something completely unique to anything that I’ve ever seen a program do at a school. The Round Table Café is something that the students all really look forward to putting on every week and something that they happen to be very good at.

Everyone should take a Friday to eat at the Round Table Café at least once during the school year, if not more, because the food is great and it supports the special education students. A meal at the Round Table Café only costs 6 dollars. I know that I am definitely going to make another trip back before the school year is out!
