Star Wars Comic #1 Review

Now that Disney has owned Star Wars for a while, it is only natural that Marvel would be publishing Star Wars comic books from now on. The first Marvel Star Wars issue has finally arrived, and this specific issue is the first in a series that follows the events that take place between Episode IV and Episode V. Since Disney decided to erase the old Star Wars canon, Star Wars #1 is among the first pieces of new Star Wars canon. This series features Luke, Leia, Han Solo, and Chewbacca leading the Rebellion against the Galactic Empire. I should mention this is the first comic book I’ve ever read, and I was not disappointed.

Starting off with the illustrations, Star Wars #1 looks just how I imagined a Star Wars comic book would. The characters are well drawn, and main characters are drawn as how they look in Episode IV. Next, the characters, scenes, and backgrounds are full of color that really fits the mood. Moving on to the plot, it is well written and flows well. I don’t want to spoil anything about Star Wars #1, but the end of this issue left me wanting more, which is good.  Luckily, Star Wars #2 should be out soon and picks up at the end of issue #1 and I can’t wait to read that. Star Wars #1 looks and feels like how a Star Wars comic should, and I really urge Star Wars fans to pick up a copy of Marvel Star Wars #1 for yourself.

As soon as I heard that Disney had acquired Star Wars and then erased the previous canon, I was pessimistic and skeptical of Disney and what they were doing to Star Wars. Now that time has passed and that teaser-trailer for Episode VII is out, along with new canon like Star Wars #1, I finally have faith in Disney and I have a feeling they are going to continue to make Star Wars awesome.
