Dragon Age: Origins

Dragon Age: Origins is a game that was developed by Bioware, and published by Electronic Arts. In the beginning of the game you choose one of the 6 origin stories based on your race (Human, Elf, Dwarf) and class (Mage, Rouge, Warrior). After you finish your origin story, the actual game starts. You are a Gray Warden, the only people who can fight against the blight. The blight is a taint brought to humans by their sin, and infects people and drives them mad, turning them into darkspawn, horrific creatures that ban together under the rule of an Old God, the Archdemon, which is in the form of a dragon.

Over-all the game gets a giant thumbs up from me, hours of gameplay go into this game and you just never get bored due to the variety of places that you visit. From a ruined temple, to a grand palace, to a magical forest. I personally am a hoarder when it comes to playing games like this, with my inventory limit always a step away, and there are just so many items that are useful that you never have room for all of them.

There are a large variety of different monsters and enemies, though I tend to usually always run into bandits or darkspawn. But there are also dragons, werewolves, bears, wolves, demons, abominations and so many more.

I like the fact that there is no clear cut moral choice, you get a list of responses that range from nice to mean, to funny, to curious, so no matter what you can usually say what you want. Though you have to be careful what you say when certain companions are in your party, because if you say something that they don’t like their points with you will go down, I like this feature, because they are clearly standing right there and can hear everything that you are saying.

The story does grab at you, especially when you look at that character as “Hey that’s me” and your origin story as “I went through all that” because people will ask you about it and reference it. That’s what I do, and when people started recognizing me because I was the daughter of my dead parents who were nobles, my ego was bigger than me.

Good story, good characters, a lot of time and effort put in, but shoddy graphics. I expect nothing less of 2009 though, very good.
