The Knights suffered a huge loss in the 2016 homecoming game Friday–the Norwell Knights, that is! No, our East Noble Knights certainly outdid themselves this time with another impressive victory to add to their successful season. Their season currently boasts five wins and one loss.

It was a night to be remembered. Our rowdy student section, still decked out in that crazy blue and gold get-up, cheered the varsity football team on as the cannon fired with each touchdown. The team’s stamina and determination were truly formidable that evening. The boys entered the fourth quarter with a solid lead of 50-0, a figure impressive enough to wow even the spectators with little to no interest in the sport itself. With a final score of 64-7, our football players definitely showed us all that our school pride isn’t founded on wishful thinking. We’re the real deal.

But the game itself was only half the fun. Another exciting part of our homecoming game was halftime, which included a spectacular performance by the Marching Knights as well as the introductions to our homecoming court and the crowning of the king and queen.

On homecoming court, there are two people per grade (except for the senior class, which has three). Our freshman court was represented by Shay Swager, Haylie Wallen, Michael Klein, and Chandler Eggering. The sophomore class included Hannah Guthrie, Nikohl Terry, and Daniel Burtch. The junior class was represented by Sam Ley, Hannah Denton, Colton Wright, and Chevy Wright. Lastly, our senior court included Jordan Axel, Bailee Hager, Whitney Napier, Austin Mohamedali, Brennen Walton, and Noah Acker.

In the end, Brennen Walton was crowned homecoming king, and Jordan Axel was crowned homecoming queen.

“I was so excited to be crowned homecoming queen!” said Axel. “It was such an honor considering that the student body is who voted for me to win. I was shocked! My overall thoughts of the night: I thought it was a really great start to my senior year. I’ve loved being at the football games meeting underclassmen, and I’m excited to see what the rest of the year has in store!”

We shall see. Thank you, EN, for making last week an extraordinary homecoming week! The varsity football team is set to play Columbia City this Friday here at East Noble for the Senior Night, the last home game of the season, so try to make it there!
