Last Saturday (September 10, 2016), East Noble hosted the second annual NE8 tournament at Noble Hawk Golf Links. The weather was brutal at first with strong wind and pouring rain but ended with sunny blue skies. The players played well given the weather conditions and ended the 18 holes strong. Out of the eight teams, East Noble placed sixth.

In first place was DeKalb with a score of 328, in second was Leo with a score of 342, in third was Bellmont with a score of 348, in fourth was Huntington North with a score of 382, in fifth was Norwell with a score of 383, in sixth was East Noble with a score of 394, seventh was Columbia City with a score of 408, and in eighth was New Haven with no score since they did not have a full team to compete. Congratulations, DeKalb, on your win.

Individual Scores for East Noble were:

Sara Kilburn with a score of 94
Shelby Targgart with a score of 88
Jenna Hernandez with a score of 95
Taylor Cripe with a score of 120
Rylee Cripe with a score of 117

Of all the golfers present, Leo’s Brooke Moser was the medalist of the entire tournament. She shot a score of 69 (one under par) at Noble’s Hawk’s course, which has a par of 70. Our very own Shelby Targgart placed eight out of the 36 girls. Congratulations, Shelby.

Their next match will be Saturday September 17 at Noble Hawk for the 2016 IHSAA Girl’s Golf Sectionals, which will determine which teams and individuals will move on to Regionals. Nice work, East Noble girls golf, and keep up the good work.
