ENHS Swim Team Defeats Huntington North

ENHS Swim Team Defeats Huntington North

Two weeks ago on December 1, East Noble coed swim & dive had its first swim meet against Huntington North. This was a new experience for most of the EN guys since most of them are freshmen or new swimmers. There are 18 girls on the team and 18 guys, and all of them have worked hard since the first practice.

The swim meet showed it. It was held at the Cole YMCA in Kendallville, Indiana. There were a lot of fans and parents that helped put this meet together, and the EN swim team thanks everyone who helped.

For those who don’t know, a swim meet consists of different types of strokes a swimmer must do: freestyle, breaststroke, fly, and backstroke. They have different laps and events that coincide with that. There is a 50-yard, 100-yard, 200-yard, and 500-yard. There is also diving. In every high school swim meet, there are a total of 24 events. Girls compete in their event first; then the guys participate.

The girl’s team has only one diver this year, and her name is Katie Blaze. She is a junior at East Noble and is terrific. Our other diver is Phillip Phan, and he is a senior. He has been diving since his freshman year, so he has a lot of experience. The team cheers them both on every time. Good luck, divers, on the rest of your season!

This most recent swim meet was the ladies’ third swim meet, but it was the boys’ first. The guys have twenty swimmers this year—twice as many as last year! This is awesome. Returning swimmers from last year for the boys are Dawson Meade, Phillip Phan, Anthony Phan, Austin McCulloch, Nick Sibert, Ben Kline, Tim Berendt, Elijah Shanton, and Griffen Dafforn-Koebler. Newcomers include Sahil Patel, Matthew-Schowe, Andrew Ormiston, Bailey Zehr, Connor Dodd, Cole Dodd, Logan Strange, Daniel Burtch, and Daniel Enriquez.

The swim meet turned out very well. There were a lot of EN fans present, and there was a great crowd of spectators. Everything about that night was fantastic. The final score was great as well. Both East Noble teams, boys’ and girls’ alike, defeated Huntington North that night, and it was a great win! The score for the girls was 121-53. The boys won 94-73. Great job, knights!
