East Noble Swim and Dive Has Begun
November 18, 2015
The East Noble girls’ swim season commenced on October 26, 2015, and two weeks later the boys’ swim season began on November 9, 2015. We have lost quite a few swimmers from last year’s teams, but fortunately we gained a lot of new people.
Both groups, boys and girls, have been training hard. We had practice over the summer and also condition to get back into shape for the season. The teams both practice at the same time, Mondays to Fridays from 3:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. and Saturdays from 7:30 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. Those hours seem long, but we have fun while practicing and it is fantastic to see all the dedication everyone puts in.
The head coach for both teams is Mrs. Megan Disque. She is an English teacher at East Noble right now and has been coaching for two years. We are proud to have her here and thank her for all she does. Our diving coach is Carleigh Pankop. The East Noble Swim and Dive assistant coach is Miss Silvia Perera. Miss Silvia Perera is an East Noble Spanish teacher right now and has been teaching and helping out with the swim teams for two years.
Even though we are no longer accepting new people for this year, you can still encourage people in 8th grade and other grades in the high school to join next year. If you are interested you can join next year, too. Just come to a call-out meeting and get the information. You also can come see us in action at our home meets.
Last year, we had four seniors and one foreign exchange student. Our new seniors, who will lead our team to greatness and help the new people out on the team, are Phillip Phan and Ashley Nicholas. Both seniors have been swimming since their freshman year and will have a great season! Our first girls’ swim meet is November 18 at Cole YMCA in Kendallville, and our first boys’ swim meet is December 3 at Cole YMCA as well. Good Luck, East Noble Swim and Dive! Knight Nation is behind you cheering you on!
