Girls’ Soccer: A Night of Ties

It’s not completely uncommon, nor is it overly frequent that a soccer game ends in a tie. Usually, one team comes through at the last second or holds the game from the beginning, but last night, both JV and Varsity Soccer strayed toward the uncommon and ended their games against Angola in ties. JV held the score at 0-0, while Varsity ended the game 4-4.

The beginning of the season has been rough for the Lady Knights Varsity team, as they have only claimed victory in 2 of 6 games. Alex Rider, a senior who has been playing all four years of her high school career says,

“It’s been a rough beginning of the season with a new coach, a few girls decided not to continue playing and Mya [Diffenderfer] and Carissa [Gruszczyk] are currently injured leaving us at a disadvantage.”

Regardless, their perserverance was evident as they took on the Angola Hornets yesterday on our home field. Angola put up a fight as they usually do, but the Knights rose to the challenge following one of their goals with one our own. Scoring for the nights yesterday evening were Emily Dashiell and Taylor Rex, who did their job as forwards.

We wish the Knights a season of improvement, and many wins to come!
