Lady Knights Basketball Wraps Up Another Successful Season

After an impressive season last year, the East Noble Lady Knights basketball team had high expectations once again this year. The difference was that they had to fill the void that last year’s 8 seniors left. But that didn’t stop them. This year, the girls posted a record of 18-7, which is tied with the most wins that the Lady Knights have ever won in a season, finished 5-2 in the conference, which secured 2nd place in the NHC, and defeated 3 state-ranked opponents along the way. The Knights ended their season with a loss against Carroll, one game shy of the Sectional championship game.

“We had girls step up and fill the void that was left and did so with very little transition time needed,” explained the head coach, DeAnn Booth. “Our team had great chemistry and played very well together on the court.”

Leading the team in scoring on the season were sophomore Lanie Allen and junior Paige DeCamp, each with 12 points per game. Senior Lydia Walterhouse grabbed 7 rebounds per game and recorded 3 blocked shots per game, leading the team in both categories. Freshman Corie Jones was an asset to the team with her ball handling on offense and a key defender for the Knights.

“They played with a ton of intensity and never gave up. I have heard countless times that they were very fun to watch,” commented Booth.

Looking back at this season and looking forward to next season, the Knights will have to face a similar challenge that they did this year when they lose 6 more seniors to graduation.

“We will need to have girls step up into those positions and play well, but I have high expectations and am looking forward to the fall.” said Booth.

This season looked to be a season of adjustments at the beginning of the year, but the girls made the most of it and turned it into a season that any school should be – and are – proud of. East Noble is looking forward to next year to see the Lady Knights basketball team continue their success.
