On Friday night, East Noble packed the stands in support of their football team face off against Norwell on Homecoming night. East Noble promised a good game against the Norwell Knights and they delivered. East Noble’s normally high-powered offense was shut down early in the game by Norwell’s defense, and it took until well into the 2nd quarter for them to score, when Bryce Wolfe threw a 13 yard touchdown to Dillion Fuller. Norwell answered with a rushing touchdown from their quarterback with 2 minutes left in the first half.

Norwell’s defense continued to thwart East Noble’s attempts at manufacturing any kind of momentum starting out the 2nd half, and in their first drive of the half they scored another touchdown, taking the a 14-7 lead. At the end of the 3rd quarter, East Noble began to gain some momentum, and it paid off when Fuller scored his second touchdown of the game, pulling within 1 point of Norwell at 14-13.

After falling 21-13 at the beginning of the 4th quarter, East Noble turned on the jets and turned to Fuller yet again to come within 2 points by a score of 21-19. The 2-point conversion attempt to tie the game was no good. East Noble was able to hold Norwell scoreless when they got the ball back with 3 minutes left in the game.

At their own 36 yard line and 3 minutes left in the game, East Noble made quick work of Norwell’s defense when Bryce Wolfe connected with receiver Jake Torrie for a 25 yard gain and then to Fuller for a 20 yard gain on back-to-back plays. With the East Noble Knights in the red zone, they looked to Fuller once more who rushed for 15 yards into the end zone to put East Noble up 27-21 after Fuller also scored a 2-point conversion on a run up the middle.

Only down by one score, Norwell had a chance at a comeback, but all hopes of winning were dashed for the Norwell Knights when Dylan Jordan made a spectacular over-the-shoulder interception in the back of the end zone to seal the deal with less than a minute to go.

Lined up in victory formation, the East Noble Knights knelt the ball to run the clock to 0:00 and tallied another one in the win column in a game where they had a slow start and couldn’t get a break with penalties. They persevered and never gave up, which was the difference between a win and a loss.

Wolfe threw for 289 yards with a touchdown on 17 completions. In the rushing game, Fuller led with 77 yards and 3 touchdowns on 15 carries. Colton Williams picked up most of the yardage receiving with 169 yards on 7 receptions.

East Noble improved to 4-2 on the season and will face Columbia City this Friday in their last home game of the season. Great job East Noble football and keep up the great work!
