“Star Wars Rebels” Final Season: Who Will Survive?

All good things must come to an end. Sadly, this includes the successor of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels. The final season of the animated series has begun, and the question everyone is asking is: “Who will survive?”

This article will include my predictions on principal characters and the chance I think they have of surviving the finale. Keep in mind this is in no particular order whatsoever.

Ezra Bridger: 90% chance of survival

Ezra Bridger, voiced by Taylor Gray, has been our focus character throughout the entire series. As a force user, Ezra has been tempted by both the light and the dark side with every choice he makes. This constant struggle might end with him dying in the end.
But let’s face it: this is still a Disney show we’re talking about. As the main focus character, Ezra’s chances of dying in the finale are very slim. While this final season will be darker than the others, I sincerely doubt that he will be killed.

Sabine Wren: 88% chance of survival

Sabine Wren, voiced by Tiya Sircar, is about the same age as Ezra, and has slowly progressed to the lead female role of the series. Sabine and Ezra’s relationship has been slowly building throughout each season, most notably in Season Three. And if the trailer is anything to go by, we’ll be seeing them alone a lot in Season Four, which gives them plenty of time to continue that relationship into something romantic.
Why do I think that Sabine will still be standing after the final battle? Simply put, as the love interest of Ezra, and still given the fact that this is a Disney show, it is highly unlikely that the two lead characters—that are still teenagers, I might add—will be killed off. The only reason I can see them killing Sabine is to give Ezra a reason to give into his anger and join the Dark Side, which is dark for a Disney show, but it makes sense. However, it is more likely that Star Wars will use them again in future material taking place after Rebels.

Kanan Jarrus: 12% chance of survival

Kanan Jarrus, voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr, is a surviving Jedi from the infamous Order 66, which killed off almost the entire Jedi Order. Since then, he has been in hiding, before being coaxed out to join the rebellion. Throughout the series, he has acted as a mentor to Ezra, and as his master, has trained him in the ways of the Jedi.
However, the chances of Kanan dying are extremely high. Let’s face it, not every one of these characters is going to make it out alive. And the fact that Darth Vader has been all but confirmed to show up again in Season Four puts Kanan’s chances of living even further in jeopardy. However, should they kill Kanan, it will probably be a final sacrifice, as he will give up his own life to let Ezra and the rest of the Ghost crew escape while he distracts Vader. Sorry Kanan, but you’re probably going to die.

Hera Syndulla: 100% chance of survival

Hera Syndulla, voiced by Vanessa Marshal, has been the pilot of the Ghost for years. She is also the glue that keeps the crew together. Not only that, but she is also the love interest of Kanan, and as the trailer tells us, we’ll be seeing that relationship develop.

Unlike Kanan, Hera is pretty much confirmed to survive the series thanks to the Rebels Easter Eggs seen in Rogue One. Not only do we hear her name over the intercom on the Yavin IV base, but we also see the Ghost itself fighting in the battle over Scarrif. And given the fact that this season takes place before Rogue One due to the involvement of Saw Guerra, Hera is certainly going to make it out alive.

Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios: 35% chance of survival.

Zeb Orrelios, voiced by Steve Blum, is a Lasat and the muscle of the crew. While he and Ezra started out as enemies in the first Season, by Season Four, they have a mutual respect for each other, yet still fight from time to time.
Zeb’s survival, however, is the sketchiest of the entire cast. On the one hand, Zeb, as the loveable furry guy with a soft heart, could live based on his popularity and his survival skills. On the other hand, since we now know that he is no longer the last of his kind, the showrunners can safely kill him off without killing off an entire race. The fact that his death will also have a deep impact on Ezra also may not bode well for him.

Chopper: 100% chance of survival

Chopper is Hera’s droid, which she repaired after finding him on her home planet of Ryloth. He is extremely grumpy and uncooperative, and constantly clashes with Zeb and occasionally Ezra. Yet when the job needs him, Chopper always comes through in the end.

Chopper, like Hera, is certainly going to live through the finale. In fact, we’ve already seen him alive in person in Rogue One. While this cameo in the movie is brief, it definitely confirms that the grumpy droid will survive when the dust settles.

Ahsoka Tano: 90% chance of survival

Ahsoka Tano, voiced by Ashley Eckstein, is the former Jedi Padawan of Anakin Skywalker. Like Kanan, she survived Order 66, but mainly because she had left the Jedi Order by that time, and with the help of a friend. Unlike Kanan, she has been helping the Rebellion a lot longer than him. She had a main role in Season Two, which ended after we last saw her fighting Darth Vader, her former master, in a collapsing Sith Temple. While her fate was unknown after that, it was confirmed by showrunner Dave Filoni that Ahsoka was indeed alive. While little detail on her role in Season Four has been revealed, her part in this final season is likely to be small.

Because of this, if Ahsoka does indeed make an appearance, she probably will not die. Not only is she enormously popular, but she is also too skilled to be taken down by an Inquisitor (as she has killed one and defeated two others on her own) or Stormtroopers. For those of you that think that she will die fighting Vader, it has been announced that Ahsoka and Vader’s story is complete, meaning we probably won’t see them fight again, which further strengthens her chances of survival.

Captain Rex: 80% chance of survival

Rex, voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, is a clone trooper from the Clone Wars. While most of the other clones were forced to carry out Order 66 due to control chips, Rex was warned of them and took his out before the order could be given. When the order was finally given, he and Ahsoka managed to escape and faked their deaths to throw the Empire off their trail. Rex eventually joined the Rebellion in Season Two, and has been an occasional member of the Ghost crew ever since.

His survival chances, however, are strangely high. The main evidence behind this is a highly plausible theory that depicts a white-bearded Rebel on Endor in Episode VI. A trooper who’s beard looks pretty much exactly like Rex’s. Hmm…..

Agent Kallus: 20% chance of survival.

Agent Kallus, voiced by David Oyelowo, was an agent of the Empire, and one of the main antagonists for the first few seasons. But after Season Two, he takes up the mantle of the Rebel spy Fulcrum that Ahsoka Tano once had, and operates inside Imperial lines before getting exposed. He is forced to flee and officially joins the Rebellion in the Season Three finale.

However, because of the fact that he’s a minor character, his chances of surviving the final season are slim. There’s also the fact that since he’s a traitor in the eyes of the Empire, they’ll be gunning for him especially. It looks like it will be lights out for our new hero.

Thrawn: 75% chance of survival.

Grand Admiral Thrawn, voiced by Lars Mikkelsen, is the cold, cunning admiral of the Imperial Fleet that hunts the Rebels down in Season Three. Originally in Star Wars Books in what is now known as the Legends universe, Thrawn is especially known for his cunning and calculating skills to crush all his opponents.
Now, Thrawn’s chances of surviving are pretty high, to be honest. Although the character that killed him in the books is going to show up, it is unlikely that they will use the same scenario to kill Thrawn. There are also rumors that Thrawn will be sent to the Unknown Regions at some point, which could result in his survival.

These are my predictions on who will live through this final season. However, only time will tell whether or not these predictions will be accurate.
