MythBusters Final Season Review

MythBusters+Final+Season+Review

After 14 years of being on the air, MythBusters has hung up the beret and closed up shop following one final season.

Late last year, MythBusters hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman announced that their upcoming season would be their final one. However, the preview of their farewell season proved that they would go out with a bang – literally.

In this final season, Adam and Jamie aired episodes that highlighted myths that put the show over the top, such as specials honoring explosions, rockets, volunteers, and duct tape. After these final myths were tested, busted, and blown to bits, there came the Grand Finale, featuring a trip through memory lane (courtesy of a large plow attached to a truck), Buster’s last stand against a brick wall, and the mother of all explosions.

What I believe was the best part of the finale, however, was the reunion special that aired after it. In that episode, Adam and Jamie reunited with former MythBusters cohosts Karri Byron, Grant Imahara, and Tori Belleci to talk about the impact of the show and what it meant to them.

I was very impressed with this final season as well as sad. I was happy with the explosions and the cool science, but unhappy that the series was ending. Not only was MythBusters my favorite show, but it made science cool. Still, I do feel that this season defined MythBusters as one of the best science shows on television.

I rate this final season a 10/10 for its incredible planning and how the MythBusters signed off in style. The myth that the MythBusters can end with a bang? Totally and utterly “Confirmed.”
