14 Things NOT to Get Your Valentine
Tomorrow’s the big day! If you have a significant other, have you bought him/her a gift yet? If you haven’t, there’s still time to change that! Here are 14 gifts you should definitely NOT give your valentine this year.
1. Nothing
No, you don’t count as a gift to them. A little thought goes a long way. Something as simple as a handmade card or a text with a heart-eyed emoji will surely make your sweetheart’s day.
2. Something cliché and last minute, like a ridiculously oversized teddy bear or a foil-covered chocolate rose
Okay. Unless you know he or she will love it.
3. Last minute gas station candies
i.e. those candy hearts that say “TXT ME” and “LUV U.”
4. Something you’ll get more use out of than he/she will
Example: Two tickets to YOUR favorite team’s game, even though your significant other hates basketball.
5. Exercise equipment
I mean, what are you trying to say?
6. A break-up text
Let’s be real. If you’re going to break up, do it in person.
7. A giant KING SIZE box of approximately 400 chocolates
Half of them taste like orange-flavored toothpaste, and because one cannot physically eat that much candy, it will likely go to waste.
8. A one-pound, anatomically correct, gummy heart (See here!)
Actually, maybe you should buy that one….
9. A personal item you might want back if the two of you ever break up.
Example: Your late grandmother’s ring that has been passed down for generations.
10. Your mix-tape
And we don’t care how fresh it is.
11. An engagement ring
In the end, we can’t tell you what to do, but make sure you’ve given marriage a good hard thought. Maybe you should buy a promise ring or something instead.
12. A box of furry kittens
It’s all fun and games until you have to clean the litter box (plus roughly one in three Americans are allergic to cats).
13. Fireworks
No. Attaching them to a note that says “You set my heart on fire” does not make it okay.
14. A scrapbook of pictures taken of them in various places around town
You might want to look for healthier ways to express your love….
Happy Valentine’s Day!
