Transformers: Fall of Cybertron Review

A civil war reaches its peak and the Autobots face their darkest hour in Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.

During the campaign, this third person action game, players are taken to the final days of the War for Cybertron, where they can play as famous characters in the Transformers universe such as Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Starscream. Each character also has its own special ability. For example, Cliffjumper can cloak, Jazz can grapple, and Optimus can command the mighty Autobot city Metroplex.

Also included in Fall of Cybertron is a multiplayer mode, where players can create their own Transformer characters using parts from every Transformer in the game. There are four classes that one can create characters for: Infiltrator, Titan, Destroyer, and Scientist. Each class has its own advantages and disadvantages, depending on the map and the player.

The third game mode is Escalation. Players team up and play to defeat a massive amount of enemies before dying. There are 15 waves in Escalation, with each wave featuring harder waves than the last. One also needs to save up credits to buy new weapons and unlock new areas to the map to survive to the final round.

I really enjoyed playing all functions of the game. All 3 modes had plenty of action as well as a good array of weapons to choose from. I also loved the transformer creator in the multiplayer mode for the game, as well as the ever increasing challenge of Escalation. The campaign was also fun to complete. My favorite character in the game would probably have to be Grimlock because of his destructive capabilities.

However, I do have a few complaints about the game. For example, one cannot choose which transformer you can take through a campaign mission. The Transformers assigned to the mission are locked to that mission. Also, the multiplayer mode can be frustrating, especially if there are hackers in the server.

All in all, I have to give this game a 9.9/10, for its incredible graphics and combat perspective. I would recommend it to any die hard Transformers fan.
