Ant-Man Review

Ant-Man starts out years in the past with Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and his colleagues discussing Pym’s serum that can alternate someone’s size by shirking the atoms.Pym refuses to share his serum and marches out the room and left for almost a decade until present day. Then there’s criminal just getting out of jail, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd). He decides he wants to change his life so he can be reunited with his daughter since her stepdad won’t let him. After many failed attempts to get a job he finally joins his friends and takes on an extremely difficult break in where he finds the suit. Little did he know it was a test set by Pym. Pym then trains Lang to become the next Ant-Man. There’s an uprising in a company that has a special weapon that Lang must penetrate to complete his mission.

This movie is full of action and I definitely loved this movie, Marvel studios did a fantastic job with the casting and the script. Hope (Evangeline Lilly) was amazing. Marvel gave you little bits and pieces of her backstory through the beginning of the movie until they finally explain it in a daddy-daughter bonding moment. I also thought Pym’s character was unremarkable. They way he was serious enough that he was funny was amazing. I enjoyed how he kind of controlled some parts of the movie, like when he tested Lang to break into his own home to find the suit. Lang was also an excellent portrayed character. The fact that he goes from thief to hero is a fantastic plot line that may never get old.
Throughout the movie you think Hope and Darren Cross (Corey Stoll) might get together or he might take her forcefully, but when he didn’t I was surprised. Cross was obviously going insane throughout the movie. But he obviously want to far when he tried to kidnap Cassie Lang (Abby Fortson),Lang’s daughter. Everyone was on the edge of their seats with anticipation of what was to come next.
I felt the characters Luis (Michael Pena), Kurt (David Dastmalchian), and Dave (T.I.) weren’t that good in this movie. They were kind of funny but since they were all criminals and they almost got arrested during the middle of the big plan to save the world was a little dramatic. Lang almost got fried because of it. Dr. Pym at first disagreed with them joining his little team and I agree with him.
Overall the movie was great and I recommend it to all Marvel lovers who haven’t already seen it. I give it a 8/10 mostly because the three side kick type guys, I didn’t like their part of the movie too well. Over all I liked the action, the comedy, and the drama in the movie. I enjoyed most of the characters and can’t wait to see Ant-man in Captain America: Civil War
