The Lego Movie Review

In all our lives, there comes a time where we form an opinion on something without ever trying it first. We hear or see something about it, form an opinion, and move on with our lives.

Such was the case with me and “The Lego Movie”. After seeing commercials for it on TV, I was thinking Wow, that movie’s a waste of money. In short, I thought very little of it, believing it to be very annoying.

However, at school, I kept hearing very great reviews of it, which got me thinking, Is this movie really that good? My curiosity was aroused.

It took several months, but eventually, we had our own copy of The Lego Movie. As I sat down to watch it, I thought I hope this was not a waste of our money.

But as I watched it, I came to realize that the movie was actually really well made. Not only that, it was hilarious! I could not stop laughing at several points of the movie.

The film stars Chris Pratt as Emmett, an ordinary construction worker who is prophesied to become the “Special”, who will lead a group of Master Builders (people that can build anything without using instructions) to stop an evil businessman named Lord Buisness (voiced by Will Ferrell) from freezing the Lego world with a relic known as the “Kragle.” Joining up with Master Builders Wyldstyle (voiced by Elizabeth Banks), Vitruvius (voiced by Morgan Freeman), Batman (Voiced by Will Arnet), Unikitty (voiced by Alison Brie) Metalbeard (voiced by Nick Offerman), and a 1980-something space guy named Benny (voiced by Charlie Day) Emmett embarks on a journey to use the “piece of Resistance” to “put the thing on the thing” and save the world.

This movie, despite my earlier belief, was really well done. It had its great moments of action and hilarity. And through all that, a brilliant message at the end. The only thing bad about it was the trailers for it. They made the movie look pretty bad, and made me not want to watch it in the first place.  So I would suggest making better trailers for the sequel (2018) and the Batman spinoff film (2017)

I definitely give “The Lego Movie” a 9.79/10, which is still an A, and I recommend it to everyone who wants a great movie with action, humor, and a powerful message.
