Agent Carter Review

So the cool thing nowadays seems to be superheroes and comic books, and the stream of comic book-based media does nothing to disprove that statement. Now it’s no secret that this phase has swept me up in its tidal wave, but it’s also desensitized me to superhero shows. The only two that I keep up with are Arrow and The Flash. That being said, when Marvel announced their TV series based on Cap’s girlfriend from WWII, I wasn’t terribly enthused. That was until I watched the first episode.

Agent Carter definitely did not disappoint me. When I sat down and saw the Marvel logo on the screen, I started feeling a little excited on the inside. I sat there, intently staring at the television and soaking up every word that was said. When the credits rolled, I stopped that episode on Hulu and immediately started the next. At this point, it’s safe to say that I’m hooked.

Without spoiling much, the show is about Agent Peggy Carter, an English woman working with the government. That all changes when an old friend from the war, Howard Stark (Tony Stark/Iron Man’s dad), approaches her saying that he’s a fugitive in the eyes of the law because some of his prototype Weapons of Mass Destruction were stolen and ended up in the hands of America’s enemies. It’s widely believed that he sold them, so he asks Carter to help him by working undercover for him in order to recover the weapons and clear his name. Antics ensue.

Overall, I’d give what I’ve seen of this show a high score, somewhere around 8/10. If you ever happen to be bored and sitting on the internet, I suggest you go over to Hulu’s website (which is free and doesn’t require a Hulu Plus subscription) and watch it. Trust me. You won’t regret it.
