The Unwanteds Island of Silence Review

The people of Artimé are back in Lisa McMan’s second book in The Unwanteds series, where things take a turn for the worse for Artimé.

It has been several weeks since the battle that exposed Artimé and had killed High Priest Justine, and a tentative peace has settled between Quill and Artimé. Marcus Today, the mage of Artimé, wants to visit the other 6 islands that are nearby the island which Quill and Artimé lie. But he needs someone to rule in his absence. So he picks the young Alexander Stowe to watch over his land when he is away. But Alex is not so sure he is ready to rule. On top of everything, 2 strangers wash up on the beach, with strange orange eyes and necklaces of thorns.

In Quill, Aaron Stowe, Alex’s twin brother, is furious. He has been cast down from power, and rejected by the Wanted University. Blaming his brother and Artimé for this, he plots to take over Quill from High Priest Gunnar Haluki, thereby having the means to attack Artimé.

With amazing and inspirational characters, both old and new, and an incredible plot line, readers will be on the edge of their seats, and will be eagerly waiting for the next installment in this 7 part series.

I give this book a solid A.
