If I Stay: Book to Movie Review

Released the last weekend in August, If I Stay took the nation by storm. Lovers of the book have been waiting for the movie release since the book was published in 2009. The plot of this best seller is about a girl named Mia. She is a lover of classical music, is obsessed with playing the cello, but has been injured in a car accident. Being put into a coma, she is “living” outside her body, seeing how her friends and family react during their visits. Many people enjoyed the movie but didn’t like the ending, though it is very similar to the book. Junior Makayla Riecke didn’t read the novel but said, “I really enjoyed the movie but hated the ending.” Junior Reagan Hamilton said, “I loved the movie, but the flashbacks we kind of hard to follow,” and junior Lynsee Devers added, “it has a good message.” The movie is very similar to the novel, but without giving too much information away, movie producers did leave out some details and major parts of the book from the movie. We all understand that the movie can’t be super long, right? If you haven’t seen the movie yet, you still have a chance to catch it in downtown Kendallville at The Strand, and you can check out the novel at the Kendallville Public Library.
