The Unwanteds Book Review

The Unwanteds, by Lisa McMan

Imagination runs wild in the first book of Lisa McMan’s series titled The Unwanteds. Taking place in the desolate land of Quill and the magical world of Artimé, this book combines imagination, creativity, and weapons all in one.

In the land of Quill, creativity leads to weakness. To make sure none are creative, High Priest Justine purges 13 year olds every year. The intelligent Wanteds are sent to a University, and the Unwanteds- the ones that have been caught being creative- are sent to the Death Farm to be Eliminated.

But when the Unwanteds arrive at the Death Farm, they discover that a magical world filled with talking statues, strange creatures, and magic is hidden there. Led by the mage Marcus Today, Artimé is a safe haven for all the Unwanteds from every purge. For the past 50 years, everything has been safe.

But when Artimé is exposed to Quill, the Unwanteds will need to fight for their lives by defeating the Quillitary and High Priest Justine. Otherwise, all that they hold dear will be lost forever—and Artimé will disappear.

With an excellent plot, a cast of unforgettable characters, and, of course, magic and creativity, The Unwanteds is perfect for the reader who loves reading a lot of books. This book is definitely a 5 star book.
