Students and Staff…Are We Alone?

The shadow of a little girl is seen against the lockers in this picture

Do you believe in ghosts? Well if not, I am about to make you a believer! I have interviewed various staff members and tried to verify the stories that have been passed around the school.

So, now, to the making you a believer part, without further delay… In order to build the school many people were kicked out of their homes. The people who lived in the various houses on the school land had their homes taken over by eminent domain. One man that was said to be removed from his home and went by the name Otto was very angry and vengeful. Otto vowed to get back at the school one way or another. He has been seen and felt by many people in the gym. Otto, when seen, is standing at the entrance to the main gym (the entrance on the opposite side of the doors that lead to the auditorium). He is said to be dressed in dark pants and a white jacket, with no definable facial features. “He looked right at me,” said one source. “It looked as if he just stepped off of Ellis Island.”  Now, it is very interesting that he would say that because Otto was a German immigrant who might have passed through Ellis Island, or had family that did.

Now let’s have a little chat about this whole Semi-formal picture. To the critics and non-believers this picture seems fake. The quality of the picture to some is amazing and to be frank, I believe that it is real. The night that the couple took this photo, the camera was dropped and broken. So, the next day the memory chip was taken from the phone, and all pictures were transferred to a computer. What the couple found was absolutely terrifying and intriguing. A little girl appeared in their picture! The young girl that is pictured in this photo has said to been seen at South Side Elementary. “But what does South Side Elementary have to do with the high school?” Well, thankfully I knew you were going to ask that! Before East Noble High School was, well, East Noble High School, it was a little place called South Side Elementary. It has been reported that this little girl, whom from now on will be referred to as Judy, walked towards a janitor at South Side in the cafeteria and sat down at a table; before the janitor could ask her what she was doing there, Judy disappeared before her eyes (wish I could just transport myself out of school like that).

Finally, people have reported that shadows can be seen in the hall behind the auditorium. Now, I am no psychiatrist, but I can proudly say that those people are not crazy. They are not the only ones who have seen or felt this shadows. One theory says that before the auditorium was built, there were train tracks that ran though the field (now the current auditorium). The train would take people through the town, and over Bixler Lake, where parties would take place. People would come from surrounding towns to get their party on. So, that train would carry many happy people throughout Kendallville for many years. Once life ended for these people, it is possible that they related that field, (now the auditorium), with happy memories and decided to come back.

So, fellow students Calculus is not the only scary thing about East Noble High School, we may have ghosts amongst us. There is no need to strap on your Ghost Buster’s gear to come to school for these spirits (all but maybe Otto) mean no harm to anybody. Quite sadly they most possibly don’t even know that they have passed on. There is a possibility, and I am a firm believer in the fact that we are not alone.

Special Thanks: I want to thank the janitorial staff for their corporation and allowing me to pester them over and over again. The janitorial staff has a very important part in the school. Thank you from all of us.
