The Adventurous Chronicles of an East Noble Knight

You made it! You’ve officially survived your first full week of the school year! Granted, it has been a long week and I’ve personally woken up every morning 20 plus minutes later that what I had originally intended to, but overall it’s been pretty great.

I’m not much of a morning person; in fact, mornings are my least favorite part of the day. I usually arise from the dead resembling something that is only seen in the darkest crevices of the earth…and since I wake up so late, I somehow have to attempt to manage my unsightly appearance in 15 minutes or less. Oh, and don’t expect anything especially deep from me in the mornings. It takes special effort for me to use those facial muscles to smile let alone emit some sort of grunt to others. However, I pump myself up by listening to some sort of pop song in the mornings on my way to school-a nice mixture of One Direction and Rihanna usually does the trick as I find Macklemore to be a bit too much in the A.M.

Another thing I’ve learned is that you should give yourself some extra time in the mornings because scurrying around to find your favorite pair of jeans or chasing your cat out of your room can just stress you out and make your morning, to put it nicely, unpleasant. But, once you get to school, it’s not all that bad (unless of course you’re scrambling to finish homework, in which case, you’re just plain out of luck).  I always retreat to the Key Club room where I get a chance to catch up with friends and gossip about the latest Teen Wolf episode. Then the bell tolls…and you would think you were in some sort of Stephen King movie, however I’ve been told it only signifies that you have 5 minutes left until class starts (but the jury is still out on that one).

First period isn’t all that bad though. I roll some dice and tally some information up in Prob and Stats and before I know it I’m off to my teacher assisting period where I get to spend my time doing what I love best-serving others (ok, well actually I do paperwork, but I’m kinda serving others, right?).

Third period is a flash as I spend my time hunting for houses in housing and interiors and yes, I am hoping to make a spotlight appearance on HGTV’s “House Hunters.”

Ahhh, and then there’s lunch-a time to relax and enjoy some food…or finish up some fifth period homework.

Fourth period is always especially enjoyable as I love English and I’m very lucky to have great people in my class. Not to mention, my teacher (shout-out to Mr. Barber) always manages to keep class fun and entertaining.

Then AL swings around and I spend my walk from English to AL figuring out how much exactly I can get done. My calculations are usually wrong though as I have a new addiction to watching cat videos and the occasional One Direction video on YouTube.

Fifth period is Spanish. I enjoy Spanish, however if I ever get lost in South America I am hoping to be close to an American Embassy as my chances of survival are slim to none as of this point in time.

Finally though, that bell of death paradoxically rings and I am free. Well, free to go play golf (which is actually quite relaxing).

When I go home every night, I’m exhausted and ready to take a personal vacation, but then after talking with my dad I always receive some piece of fortune cookie wisdom, and no, not your typical “Stay in school,” but more like, “Be thankful for the opportunities that you have and so remember that tomorrow brings a wonderful opportunity.” These little quotes of wisdom keep me going. My dad has to be a pretty cool dude if he can come up with such an insightful aphorism. So, to sum it all up, the week has been pretty cool and I look forward to seeing what other adventures/opportunities might come my way next week.
