Summer Movies for 2013

Summer Movies for 2013

To all of my fellow cinephiles out there, you all know that the Summer of 2013 is going to be filled with epic movies to make us laugh, cry and scream with joy. With highly anticipated sequels, reboots, and original flicks you DO NOT want to miss, this summer movie season is sure enough to  have us all gawking at the big screen.

So, here is a list of some awesome movies to come this June:

June 7:

The Internship: Starring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, this comedy is about two middle-aged guys who have lost their jobs and have no choice but to compete for internships at Google.

The Purge: This creepy little film is sure to have every viewer sleep with the lights on for a few days. The Purge takes place in a not-so-distant America where crime and unemployment rates are at an all-time low due to a new law where all crime is legal for a full 24-hour day once a year.

June 12:

This Is the End: This movie is about six friends who are stuck at James Franco’s house during the apocalypse. It’s probably the most star-studded cast of any film this season with big names like Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, and Jay Baruchel, This Is the End is sure to be a good time.

June 14:

Man of Steel: Who isn’t excited to see Superman return to the big screen? Starring Henry Cavill as the iconic superhero, and brought to you by Zack Snyder a.k.a. the director of “300”, Man of Steel may just be the most epic film of the summer.

June 21:

Monsters University: YES! Finally! I personally am very excited about this one. It’s been over a decade since we last saw Mike and Sulley and now we will get to see them in their college days.  I know I can’t be the only one who wants to sit in the front row at this premiere.

World War Z: This is the movie for all of you zombie fans out there. This highly anticipated movie starring Brad Pitt almost didn’t make it to the big screen thanks to rewrites, expensive reshoots, and an increased budget. Hopefully all the hard work has paid off and we can all enjoy this very intense zombie epidemic flick. P.S. If you haven’t watched the trailer for this movie yet, do it now and you’ll see how this movie is taking a fresh approach to how zombies move. They aren’t the super-slow walking guys you used to know.

June 28:

White House Down: If you like to see Channing Tatum kick butt or just like to look at Channing Tatum, then this movie is for you. Tatum plays a policeman who was denied the opportunity to be a Secret Service worker. When he takes his daughter on a tour of the White House, the historic building is attacked by a heavily armed enemy and it is up to The Tatum to save the day with some help from the president, played by Jamie Foxx.

The Heat: Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy play FBI agents in this highly anticipated comedy. So sit back, relax, and get ready to laugh your hind end off.
