The new year is treating local student Maya Gay right.

Gay, a senior at East Noble, recently won the Golden Key Scholastic Art Award for her paintings, along with an honorable mention. Nominated by her art teacher, Ms. Hull, and out of a pool of over 3000 students, she was selected to be a recipient of the award by a panel of judges.

“Honestly, I was surprised I won an award for my artwork,” said Gay humbly.

Her paintings will be on display at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art.
