The Amazing Race Proves to Be Amazing Once Again

Homecoming activities kicked off Monday Night with the Amazing Race.

Team of two were required to race around the school to complete different challenges. Some were easy, some were difficult, and some were just plain disgusting.

The first event was simple: just paint the face of a member of your team.

Event two was a trust exercise; one person had to be guided—blindfolded—through a maze of water bottlers by their teammate.

Event three required teammates to walk a tennis ball on a spoon in their teeth across a certain area, handing it off to their partner (without using any hands) and having the partner walk it back.

The next event was flipping water bottles in the air to make them land right side up.

The fifth event was the classic “wheelbarrow.” One teammate had to lift their partner’s legs up and guide them down the hallway. Then the two had to switch places to get back to the start.

The sixth event was something challenging. A team member had to use only the muscles in his/her face to guide an Oreo from the top of their head to their mouth.

Event seven required both teammates to dunk their heads into a tote filled with cold water and eat a gummy bear that was at the bottom.

The final event was eating an entire pickle covered in chocolate syrup. Once the pickles had been eaten, teams had to race to the knight statue in the Cole Auditorium lobby to complete the race.

First place went to sophomores Drew Alwine and Spencer Pattee. Second place was awarded to junior Kyra Warren and freshman Liepe Alwine. Third place went to juniors Allison Turner and Shelby Targgart.

“My favorite event was drowning to get gummy bears,” Turner remarked afterwards.
