Spell Bowl A-R-E-A Meet Pushes the Team to State

On November 3, 2014, East Noble’s Spell Bowl team traveled to Northridge for their Area competition. The competition started at 6:00 and ended around 7:45. There were a lot of good teams there and a lot of great spellers on stage. The schools that attended were Goshen, Northwood, Northridge, Elkhart Christian, and East Noble.

The scores for that night were East Noble with 68 points, Goshen with 61 points, Northwood with 38 points, Northridge with 34 points, and Elkhart Christian with 25 points.

Seniors: Rachel Smolinske got 8 words correct, Emily Savage got 7 words correct, and Nathan Shortridge got 4 words correct.

Juniors: Alyssa Yoquelet and Phillip Phan both got 9 out of 9 at the competition.

Sophomores: Kaelyn Bender got 5 words correct, Megan Shortridge got 6 words correct, and Meghann McCoy got 8 words correct.

Freshmen: Sahil Patel got 5 words correct.

The results are in! East Noble Spell Bowl team made it to State! State will be held on November 15th at Purdue University in West Lafayette, and will begin at 11 AM. This will be the Knights’ last competition for the season. Here are the teams that will be competing at State, in their class category (a scoring order).
