Last Sunday a series of intense battles broke out at St. John Lutheran Church and School here in Kendallville. Seven teams journeyed there to compete in a dodgeball tournament put on by the church’s youth group. With its delicious concessions and a comedic announcer narrating each game, the tournament proved to be a blast for everyone, especially the victors.

Since it was a double elimination tournament, teams were only allowed to lose once before getting kicked off the roster. There were prizes for the top three teams: a gold wrench, a silver wrench, and a bronze wrench. The Gap Fillers were finally able to nab the gold wrench after struggling to beat another team, the Taekwondos, in the final round. The bronze wrench was awarded to the third place team, We Dem Boys. Both the Gap Fillers and We Dem Boys featured several kids from our very own East Noble High School.

Do you have what it takes to win a gold wrench? You’ll have more chances to find out! Another dodgeball tournament for high schoolers on up is slated for March of 2015. The tournament is already being arranged by the St. John youth group and could include some special surprises, like an awesome concert afterwards! So be on the lookout for more details in the future and tell your friends or coworkers about this competition. After all, this is one of the few events out there that encourages you to throw stuff at people and have lots of fun with it!
