Yay for Summer School!

Guess what’s just around the corner? Yup! You guessed it. SUMMER! Everyone loves summer, right? Something else that’s just around the corner is Summer School. Summer school is for the students who failed required classes, or some even just take required classes so that they have enough space on their schedules to take other classes. Well, whatever the reason, Summer School is a great opportunity for anyone and everyone!

For those who are taking Summer School it will begin June 10th until July 3rd. Registration started Tuesday, April 22nd. The different classes that will be offered are Government, Economics, Physical Education, Indiana Virtual Academy, and Credit Recovery. Before you register you must have all payments paid and your registration money ready to turn in. No funds after June 2nd.

The fees for each class are: Government (session 1 only) – $6.00, Economics (Session 2 only) – $6.00, Physical education (Session 1 only)- $7.00, Credit Recovery (Both sessions)- $10.00, and Indiana Virtual Academy – $10.00.

Each day will involve 3 periods. (Session one) Period 1 will start at 7:00a.m. until 8:15a.m. Then students will have a 5 minute break. Period 2 will start at 8:20a.m. until 9:30a.m. Another break will take place for 10 minutes. The last period will start at 9:40a.m. and then end at 11:15a.m.

The schedule for Session 2 is a little bit different than the first session. 1st period will start 11:45a.m. until 12:45p.m. The first break of the day will then take place for 5 minutes. 2nd period will start at 12:50p.m. until 2:00p.m. Another break will take place for 10 minutes. The last period of the day will start at 2:10p.m. and then end at 4:00p.m.

Summer School has the same expectations and requirements for regular school. Here are some rules for Summer School: If any student is 9 minutes (or more) late to class it will be counted as a tardy. Each of the 3 tardies will be counted at 1/3 of an absent. Any student who exceed the total of 4 tardies will be removed from summer school.

Good luck to everyone taking classes! Have a great summer!
