Disney’s “101 Dalmatians KIDS” Coming to the EN Stage

Disney’s “101 Dalmatians KIDS” Coming to the EN Stage

Children’s Theatre 2014 is tackling a big challenge; a very big, spotted challenge. For the first time in the history of Children’s Theatre, a student directed musical is being performed. Seniors Josh Ogle and Jonathon Kane are directing Disney’s 101 Dalmatians KIDS which is set to open March 14th and 16th, and they are very excited about it. With a cast of over 25 high school students, the production is also the largest Children’s Theatre ever undertaken.

The animated movie 101 Dalmatians premiered in 1961 and has become one of the top Disney movies of all time. The stage production of this fun storyline features all of the catchy tunes from the animated movie like “Cruella De Vil,” “Kanine Krunchies,” and “Dalmatian Plantation.” Not only that but the timeless characters of Pongo and Perdita, Roger and Anita, Horace and Jasper, and of course Cruella De Vil all make appearances throughout the show. The director duo is trying to make the show as close to Disney as possible in order to capture the essence of this memorable story.

The story itself takes place in London, England and focuses on the newlyweds Roger and Anita as well as their lovable Dalmatians, Pongo and Perdita. After several rough encounters with Anita’s old schoolmate, the rich Cruella De Vil, these happy English citizens think they have seen the last of the villainous millionaire. However, in attempt to fuel her massive desire for the finest fur coats, Cruella has her henchman, Horace and Jasper, capture Pongo and Perdita’s 15 puppies. A heroic rescue must be staged in order to save the puppies and reunite them with their parents back in London.

This show is a great opportunity to bring young children to the theatre. In fact, Children’s Theatre was started as a Senior Project by East Noble alum Lacey Connolly to introduce children to the world of theatre. Josh Ogle and Jonathon Kane directed last year’s production of The Jungle Book, and sophomores Daniel Kane and Lydia Tremaine will be taking over next year.

Performances for this show are Friday March 14th at 7:00 PM and Sunday March 16th at 2:00 PM. The box office will be open Monday through Thursday, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. It will also be open on Friday from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and on Sunday from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM. All tickets are $5.00, and there is no reserve seating. Tickets can also be ordered through the Box Office via phone at 260-347-7167 after 4:00 PM any evening.
