Summer School

Summer School, two words that should never be in the same sentence…let alone side by side. Nevertheless, many students this summer will find themselves spending time sitting in a classroom rather than on the beach or in the pool. While this may not sound like an ideal way to enjoy a sun-soaked school break, summer classes are still a great choice for some students.
Beginning on June 6th and running until July 3rd, students will have the option to take courses in government, economics, and physical education, as well as credit recovery and other specific online courses. This opportunity is perfect for those who have an overloaded schedule for the upcoming year, as taking required classes in June frees up extra scheduling space for next year. That’s right folks; enlightening oneself with economic-based curriculum over summer vacation would create an opening in the school-time schedule for another interesting elective, such as music history. As for credit recovery, summer courses provide an invaluable opportunity for students who may have flunked a mandatory class, or for those who simply want to change their C- to an A.
However, arriving to class at 7 am each weekday morning doesn’t exactly appeal to everyone. But fear not! For those of you who relate to the previous sentence, online learning may be the option for you. The Indiana Virtual Academy enables individuals to learn course material straight from home on their school laptops. Costs range from $6-10 and there are no refunds once payment is made. If this sounds like a plausible option for you, sign up in the main office today and make your summer a productive one!
