An Off-Beat Essay: What Sets Your Heart on Fire? (Poem)

Kaylee Jordan

I’m here for a purpose to fulfill here on Earth,
I’ve been set out with this plan ever since birth.
I pray to use my talents for the good that you have given me,
I pray to be the woman of God I am supposed to be.

My heart is tender, my heart is kind,
My intentions are good
My life is divine

Although I know I’m not perfect, I know I’m flawed
But you see me for who I am, you see me abroad.

I can be shy, quiet, reserved.

But my heart for you speaks louder than words!

My heart is honest, my words are true, really God,
I want to be just like you.

When people see me,
I hope they really see you.

The forgiveness, patience, and unending grace
With love so big it just brings a smile to your face.

So help me to be the person who turns the other cheek
And not just rages out in anger… So to speak.

So help me to be the light in someone’s dark life
And have their name written next to mine in the book of life.

Thanks for always loving me
For who I have been,
I love you with all my heart
In Jesus name I pray,
Amen.
