Marching Milestones

Marching+Milestones

In marching band, just as in a multitude of other competitive activities, there are many milestones to encounter as the season progresses. One of the band’s earliest accomplishments came as we completed our first parade; the next as we completed learning drill for our field show. As of Friday, August 30th, 2013, our latest achievement is performing at the football team’s first home game of the school year.

Generally, home football games offer high school marching bands a unique opportunity to 1. support the football team, 2. practice performing their field show in front of a live audience, and 3. showcase their field show for the community. The same goes for us (i.e. your very own Marching Knights). After all, who wouldn’t want to root on their fantastic football team, gain experience performing, and proudly represent their high school all in the same evening? Sounds like a sweet deal to me.

Not to mention the sense of accomplishment you feel when an audience claps for you and the rest of the band. Such gestures, which will never go unappreciated, do much to boost the band’s confidence and solidify that our show is entertaining and enjoyable to watch.

With the milestone of our first football game behind us, the band is already looking forward to the many milestones yet to come. Competition season is just around the corner and we can’t wait to get started!
