The Beautification Project: Making East Noble Shine

East Noble High School is always changing. Every year, every month, every week there is something different about our school. Whether it is a new face, a new club, or a new idea, we have no shortage of great changes happening each and every day, pushing us to become something truly spectacular as a school. Many of our changes are small, but as of April of this year, a bigger change has begun, one that will not go unnoticed.

The Beautification Project had been discussed, and ideas were thrown around about changing things around the football field for a long time. Not until quite recently have the dreams of a face-lift for our athletic facilities become a reality. As of speaking with Principal Steve Peterson, it been discovered just what this process involves for our school.

“I want it to be something really special,” says Mr. Peterson, when discussing the upcoming plans.

It started with the trees. Along the south-side of the football field and passed the track are a line of new small trees and landscaping that are what represent the beginnings of the Process. It is a small step, but the other changes are hopefully soon to come. It is anticipated to happen within phases, but of the projected changes is a new archway and ticket booth, to welcome students and big-time fans and let them know that they are now in Knight Terrortory.

Another big step involves moving back the concessions building to accommodate the large crowds of people who attend the games. With that, a pavilion will likely be built, so that anything from banquets, clubs or the band can have a place to go, and fans can have a place to eat. The flags will be represented with more pride, and overall, the area will be more cleaned up, efficient and inviting.

One of the most exciting ideas is the bricks. Companies and sponsors will be able to buy bricks of varying sizes and write something on them to our school, keeping the community and our supporters tied in to East Noble. The bricks will be arranged on the ground in kind of a path way, so that all visitors can see the pride for East Noble and take part in it for themselves. This renovation will bring extra character to one of our most used facilities and donations will help with costs.

Mr. Peterson comments on the changes, “We have one of the best activity surfaces around. I want people to be proud of it.”

At first the Process was only an idea, but soon it caught on and the project became bigger than the few who were working on it. The school is now working with an architect who has put together some images of what the outcome should look like, and who should be able to make the ideas come to life. DECA has also been a large part of this process and has helped to make it a real project, no longer just a dream.

Mr. Peterson’s goal? To get the word out, and raise excitement for our school. He encourages everyone to spread the word about the Beautification Project so that when order forms are soon sent out for the bricks, people will want to buy them and donate their money to make this dream happen. He intends to have presentations for businesses and surrounding people to make them aware, and it is possible that even an infomercial will be created. It is intended to soon have a website with more information about the Beautification Project as well.

The projected time when the Project will take place is set for next summer, on the hopes that there is enough support. Mr. Peterson is very optimistic and knows that this is something very great for our school. He wants students to become involved with it, so that years from now, when they look back, they will be able to say that they helped make it happen.

Like the newly planted trees, East Noble hopes that is Process will grow into something that will make our school especially memorable for everyone.
