Getting to Know Mr. Cripe

Getting to Know Mr. Cripe

Mr. Chad Cripe is the newest Geography teacher and head basketball coach at East Noble High School.  After teaching for a span of 12 years including Indianapolis, Carmel, and New Prairie, Mr. Cripe found himself here at East Noble for his next adventure.

Mr. Cripe discussed the process of his decision to work at East Noble, beginning when he found the basketball coach vacancy. He immediately looked into the teaching position openings.

“I will be spending most of my time in the classroom, so I wanted to enjoy my job and coach basketball,” explained Mr. Cripe.

He found that the high school was searching for a Geography teacher for the 2013-2014 school year, so he applied to be both the head basketball coach and the new Geography teacher.

“This is the first year that I’m not teaching an AP class, so I am hoping to teach AP Human Geography in the near future because I really enjoyed it,” commented Mr. Cripe when discussing his classroom curriculum.

A way that East Noble helps Mr. Cripe is by giving him the opportunity to get more involved and familiar with technology, stating that he is “a little behind.” East Noble would be an easy way to stay up-to-date with technology because of the new implements in technology around the school.

Mr. Cripe can become a great part of East Noble because he is hard-working and believes that he can instill this trait into his students. “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard” is Mr. Cripe’s favorite quote because he believes that it describes him and what he stands for. This quote is evident in basketball. “I am trying to instill this into my players, so they can work hard to improve themselves individually, and as a team.”

The basketball team participated in many tournaments over the summer, including one tournament with the opportunity to play on Purdue’s court in Mackey Arena. “The team has improved very much and is looking very strong for this season.”

Mr. Cripe has a program designed as a ladder all the way from 2nd grade to high school. The intent is to help students begin working on essential skills early on so they are ready to jump in to East Noble’s basketball program.  Mr. Cripe has successfully built these programs in the past, so he is confident this program will work at East Noble, too.

Mr. Cripe’s main goal at East Noble is to produce a team on the court and students in the classroom that can make East Noble proud, and his journey begins this school year.
