How to Survive Senior Year & Beyond

Senior Year and Preparing for the Real World

Some of these things you have heard since your freshman year, but there was probably a reason for that. During your Senior Year, these tips may help you when you start getting tired of homework and tests.

  1. Get involved
    1. There are sports and clubs that would love to have you on their teams. Clubs and sports can always use the extra participants. It’s fun being part of a group and you can make long-lasting friendships when you get involved.
  2. Do your homework
    1. Your teacher’s appreciate it when you do your homework. If you don’t understand something ask your teacher or get help from a tutor. Doing your homework benefits you in the end, so do it.
    2. Study! Study! Study! It will save your grade and probably your life when it comes to your parents. You want good test scores for college and if you don’t plan on college it looks great to employers also. It shows that you are willing to work hard and understand the concepts they are trying to teach you.
  3. Take the SAT’s and ACT’s
    1. They aren’t as scary as they seem! The guidance office has a shelf with the practice booklets; grab one and study so you can do your best and be prepared for the test. They help those going in to college and for those not planning on the college route…test yourself and see what you’re capable of. You never know; you might surprise yourself.
    2. The SAT tests how you apply things you already know to material you might not know yet. The ACT tests you on information you have already learned.
  4. AP Tests
    1. If you are taking the Dual Credit or AP classes then high school just got more interesting.
    2. Pay attention in class and do your best, it will help you when the AP tests come around in May. Make sure you study because if you don’t it will show on your test. Your ultimate goal is to receive a 3. That is the magic number!
