KAR Happy Summer!!!

Teddy Roosevelt riding a moose.
Teddy Roosevelt riding a moose.

Folks, this will be our last KAR for this school year; and I want to thank all of you for your readership!  I remember about two weeks into the school year, a staff member stopped by to say that they enjoyed it, but they were upset because there was no way I could continue this for an entire year… and you know what, they would have been right had I not really enjoyed doing it.

This daily e-mail has been a great way to start my days; it is a chance to brag about our kids here at EN, which I love to do, and a chance to share stories, thoughts, and philosophies that I have developed on my spins around this rock we call home.  Also thank you to those of you who have responded to the e-mails to comment on a story, fill me in on something I’d missed, and best of all, to tell me stories about yourself that mine reminded you of.

I learned some “rules” about the KAR as I’ve gone on, among them:

-You will always, always leave someone out; I apologize to all of you whom I’ve left off lists, neglected to mention, etc.

-That the more personal the story is, the more response I will get; the Jack Farr/two ties story created a huge amount of response; early in the year, there were times when I thought maybe 10-12 people actually read the thing; but certain things seemed to bring out the comments, and the Jack story topped them all.  I was completely blown away…

-Henry is the other “money” topic; when Henry was mentioned, the responses flowed.  From him thinking that Grey Fox is an actual fox (which he still believes, by the way) to his invention of the game Animal Ball, he always seemed to touch the heart strings of the KAR readership…

So once again, thank you to all who have humored me by reading these e-mails!  I look forward to next year!  Over the summer, make sure to follow me on Twitter @ENathletics  (I expect to be tweeting results about boys golf, for instance!).

I feel it fitting to wrap up the year with a picture of Teddy Roosevelt riding a moose through a lake.  Because face it; when you see this, nothing more really needs to be said.
