Senior To-Do: May

Senior+To-Do%3A+May

Congrats, seniors! Only two weeks left in the school year. We’re at the final push.

Firstly, congratulations to all the seniors who were honored this past Friday at Honors Night. Many of our students received scholarships, awards, and recognition for all their hard work over the past four years. A handful of our amazing students received several. Students with GPAs of 3.2 to 3.49 received pins and students with GPAs of 3.5 and above received medals. The best of luck to all of them.

Next, reminders. Monday, May 15, is the final day to get special seating on the gym floor. This is reserved for guests who cannot sit in the bleachers. It also the last day to purchase tickets to the Senior Breakfast on May 26. Seniors, who get in free, are required to pick up tickets to attend, even if no family members wish to purchase tickets. Tickets for guests are $14.

On May 17, seniors will be taking a class photo dressed in caps and gowns. Please be sure to iron your gown before this. May 17 will also be the day of the senior parades at the elementary schools. After the class photo, seniors who signed up will get on buses headed for the elementary school they signed up to visit. Students who will not be going on the field trip will report to their fifth period classes for the remainder of the day.

May 26 is the last day of school. This is the day of Senior Breakfast, second period finals, and graduation practice. The practice is mandatory in order to walk in the graduation ceremony. Practice starts at 11:15.

Graduation itself is on Sunday, June 4. Students should dress in formal clothing under their graduation gowns. Seniors should arrive with their gowns unzipped so their clothes can be checked to meet standards. Anyone dressed inappropriately will be asked to go home and change or they will not be allowed to walk in the ceremony. There will be a second practice run before the actual ceremony. Practice starts at 12:30. Please be sure to show up on time.

Lastly, enjoy these final two weeks. Things are going to start wrapping up. This is the last time you’ll see these people you’ve grown up with every day. Soon, we’ll all be going our separate ways, whether it’s going to college or going in to work, moving to a new city or state or just staying here. It’s all coming to an end. Soon, it’s going to be time to say goodbye for a final time. Try to savor these last ten days. Say hi to people you don’t usually talk to, look back on the memories, and start looking forward to new ones.

Congrats again, seniors. We’re almost done.
